CHAPTERS
Exhibit on Tour, 2024/2025
History is a deeply personal, deeply alive thing. It shifts and changes with its tellers, its audience, and through our curiosity.
Chapters began as a landscape-rooted artistic dialogue realized in “chapters”; each an exploration of what collaboration between two artists of different crafts - and histories - can look like.
Our stories shape the way we understand ourselves, our place in the world, and how we interact with our neighbors. They connect us.
Now migrating across the state of Minnesota, each new home of the exhibit births a new Chapter, and evolves with new voices, waters, and connections.
Irises + Iron
It began with food
as most good things do.
Two artists with very different backgrounds and working in very different mediums came together to do a show in 2021. They had a lot of late nights, early mornings, and multilingual arguments… er, debates. Every meeting involved a meal.
They’re still working together.
About the Artists

Iron
Talon Cavender-Wilson is a Dakota man who studied traditional Scandinavian woodworking and blacksmithing for five years in Sweden. There, he became focused on the artistic side of metalworking.
As metalwork is not a traditional craft for Dakota people, his goals are to bring forward the conversations on the difference between a Dakota artist and Dakota art, the introduction of a new medium into a culture, and whether or not that should be done at all.

Dani Prados was born in Washington DC, and was originally destined to be a marine biologist. Instead she fell enthralled to the transformative powers of stories and soup, and has worn many hats for almost two decades around the globe.
Dani works in a multiplicity of mediums. The pulsing heart of her work is an evolving quest rooted in land, community, and lighting fires.
She is currently being haunted by squid.
